NXT Exchanges

nxt_logo_blue_300px2Maybe your already heard something about NXT (Nextcoin) the new 2nd generation altcoin which is based 100% on proof of stake. Because NXT is very new the infrastructur around it is building these days and mostly in beta state. Well known altcoin exchanges like cryptsy, btc-e, bter, vircurex and others havent added Nextcoin because the RPC calls to the wallet dameon are very different than the bitcoin forked alternative cryptocurrencies! I guess this is one reason, the other one may be because its in beta and maybe coins can get lost.

Luckily the community around NeXT is very active and three new exchanges have been gone online in the last few days! I have tested all of them and want to give you some short infos about it.

DGEX

DGEX was the first automatic NXT/BTC exchange gone live which is operated by Graviton. They state on the website that Graviton is in ecurrency business many years but its very hard to find some more infos about it. The frontpage looks very clean and modern but after you register or login you come back to the old design which looks very 1999 stylish. Nevertheless its about trading and not about style. Trading is working very well, but there is an anoying featured called “valid till”. You input an order and this order is valid lets say one hour. Not very long in a thin market!

NxtChg

NxtChg is online for some days now and already has more than 1000 users. You can easily check this by generating a new account. Accounts are generated by an incremental ID number and a preset password. Very uncommon but many things at NXT are uncommon. Deposit, withdrawal and trading is working very fast! Everything looks fine but the volume is very low till now.

NewAltEx

NewAltEx is the newest NXT/BTC exchange of the three available. The webdesign is looking older than on DGEX (maybe 1996 style ;) but the features are looking very promising. Cannot say much about it. Lets see how it evolves.

Summary

All three exchanges are working fine but its very uncertain how secure your funds are. Maybe they get lost or stuck in a transaction so dont risk too much on it in this early stage. Maybe this is also the reason why trading volume is very low on all NXT exchanges. This could be a ver big chance for being an early adopter of this new technology. I recommend to open an account on one or two exchanges and buy some NXT coins for the long term. Think about withdrawing your coins to your own Nextcoin wallet to be secure.

Unfortunately only DGEX is providing an public API to fetch the last trades. With this data i am able to show period charts but not the orderbook. NXT/BTC charts
